Ladies Night #2: Fly

Hey beauties!

Another Thursday means another Ladies Night! I don’t know about you but it’s been one heck of a week — every day brings a new challenge with new lessons learned. Hope you are all fighting those battles like the strong women you are, whether they be with your boss at work, your best friend, your boyfriend, your college professor… or even with yourself. Sometimes it seems like everyone is just waiting for us to crash, burn and admit that we can’t handle all that we take on. As that may sometimes be true for some of us ambitious individuals, we know that at the end of the day we can do anything that we set our minds to.

Here’s one by Nicki Minaj featuring Rihanna to celebrate ourselves and reinforce the fact that we “came to win, to fight, to conquer, to thrive.” “to win, to survive, to prosper, to rise, to fly.”

Sweet Wednesday

Party animals! Hopefully everyone had a successful day. 🙂

Oh, Rainy Day

Hey, bellas!

Let there be RAIN. I hope you ladies didn’t forget your umbrella. Fortunately, it’s just a light sprinkle. I went out without my metallic gold umbrella from Target ($12.99 and the best umbrella I’ve ever owned. Definitely not a $5 NYC street umbrella). My mom always jokes that the “umbrellas pop out of the sidewalks” when it rains here. That’s one great thing about living in New York — there will always be a street vendor there to keep you from getting wet when you forget your umbrella.

I would probably bet a good amount of money that people who live in cities own more umbrellas than people who live in rural or suburban areas. If you don’t want to get stuck waiting inside a Duane Reade or a Starbucks for the rain to stop, you’re going to have to buy an umbrella.

I got home a little bit ago after an adventure for cheap finds at thrift stores in Astoria (ps. the Goodwill there is small but probably the best Goodwill I’ve ever stepped foot in. There were so many finds that were actually worth buying — but I passed and only bought something for a little DIY project I’ll be posting about in the coming week!) and I decided to do a little rain prep and search for a fashionable umbrella. Behold — the BELLA UMBRELLA:

How cute are these? Love the shape, the colors it comes in — especially the b&w! They’re so ladylike  and fun. And there are even more colors on the website,

Want, want, want.

Slushy Monday

Hello fashionistas! It’s Sunday night and a slushy Monday morning is approaching after this snowy weekend — which means nothing more than slipping and sliding around in our old boots that aren’t made for this kind of weather.

The boots above were  pretty cute… but now out of commission with the help of snow and sludge.

Here are some new fabulous finds that might add a little pep to your step on a slushy morning.

However, if you don’t want to splurge too much and want a good bargain the boots below are perfect.

Happy monday !

Chunk or bust

knit or thin I love them all . When it comes to scarves I need them all.

while I was in the city yesterday afternoon I stopped at Zara and found the most perfect scarves( pictures posted above). I am already wearing the one in the 2nd picture 🙂 .

Ladies Night #1: Survivor

Hey ladies! So it’s Thursday night — and in some regions of the US, that means it’s LADIES NIGHT.

Instead of going out and getting free drinks just because we women, let’s raise that glass to our beauty and brains. We have big dreams and are strong enough to turn them into reality.

Every Thursday night, I’ll be sharing with you a song to empower you to be the beautiful, strong woman you are. Us ladies need to stick together! So get dolled up — whether you are going out with your ladies or staying in  — and move your body.

Here’s a little throwback. GO.

DIY: Glassware with a Little Mod

Here’s a way to bring some life into your old vases, candle holders or anything you have laying around the house. Behold! Decoupage.

It’s pretty simple, and only requires a few tools.

What you’ll need:
1. Clippings — from magazines, printed out off the computer, old books, etc.
2. Mod Podge Gloss-Lustré-Lustre
3. Paint brushes — any with work, you can use a sponge tip also! Bristly brushes can add a nice texture, too, depending on the effect you’re going for.
4. A vase, jar, canvas, mirror… Etc etc! The list is endless, you just have to use your imagination!

I did this for all of my friends and family during the holidays for Christmas presents and had some really great outcomes.

First, gather up all of your images and have an idea or theme in your head before you start. Cut the pieces in a way that you’ll want to arrange them. I wanted them to have a mosaic like/stained glass feeling so I cut them out and arranged them with spaces.

I also wanted each item to have a personal quote on them that would mean something to the person I was gifting it to.

Paint on a bit of mod podge and start sticking. Once the pieces are arranged, add a layer of mod podge over all the pieces and let it dry. If you find that you put on too much mod podge, wipe it off with a wet paper towel. Don’t rub where the paper is too much tho, that might cause the paper to rip if it is to wet.

I experimented a little by putting gloss all over the already glossy glass. You can either just put it over the collaged paper or you can put it all over the whole vase, jar, etc and give it an interesting texture with a bristly brush.

Any other crafty mod podge ideas? Fill me in! I love to receive creative feedback just as much as I like to give it.
